Every experiment, including the ones whose result contradicted the expectation.

Purpose

To keep a complete record of what was tested, including tests that did not produce the expected answer. Those are the ones most often left out elsewhere.

Background

An archive that only contains successes is a marketing page. The mounting-height test is here precisely because raising the fixture made the ends worse, which is useful to anyone considering the same change.

Methodology

  1. Each experiment states its question before its result.
  2. Method is recorded in enough detail to repeat.
  3. A result that contradicts the hypothesis is recorded as-is.
  4. Planned experiments are listed with no invented numbers.
