Hi, I'm Jeremy. This is my 90P Dutch tank, and the record of what I've measured on it.

Why this exists

I've worked in enterprise technology for more than twenty years, and in that time I've come to trust measurement over assumption — not because instinct is worthless, but because a measurement can be checked and an assumption cannot.

Outside of work, that mindset eventually found its way into aquascaping.

Rather than making changes based solely on opinion or internet advice, I prefer to measure, document, compare, and repeat. This project exists to replace assumptions with repeatable measurements.

It combines automation, instrumentation, photography, and long-term observation to better understand how lighting, CO₂, water chemistry, and husbandry influence planted aquariums.

The clearest example is on this site: I spent about six years assuming my light had gone weak. When I finally measured it, the light was fine — the spread was the problem. One survey saved me from replacing something that was not broken.

The goal isn’t to prove one method is “right.” It’s to publish transparent observations that help other hobbyists make better decisions.

How the project is run

PAR
Every value published here is measured with an Apogee MQ-510 underwater quantum sensor.
Water chemistry
Logged continuously, with hand tests recorded against their own dates.
Equipment
Changes are documented, and status is read from the inventory that runs the tank.
Experiments
Repeatable whenever practical, and published whichever way they turn out.
